Breast cancer is the third most common type of cancer in the world and the one that is the most deadly amongst women. 1 in 4 cases of cancer in women is breast cancer, while only 1 or 2 in 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer will live beyond 5 years in Mauritius.
Regularly planned screening from the get go is more likely to increase breast cancer survival rates. As a supporting evidence, this was the case in developed countries where women were screened earlier through screening methods that were easy to use, affordable and accessible to all.
